Currently a full-time job hunter, and while I'm set for this month I still need to make sure I've got money to cover the rent and such next month.  As such, I'm opening commissions for calligraphy and taking translation jobs.

Commissions
Texts:
• Japanese/Chinese: $1/character, willing to translate desired phrase
• English/Latin-script: $1/word
Single Words: $5/word (will have more detail)

Shipping of originals can be arranged if desired.

Will do:
• Songs
• Magazine Articles
• Comics
• Correspondence
• TV/Audio
• Homework (j/k...though I'm willing to proofread work)

Translation Rates:
• Comics/Magazines: $5/page
• Songs: $5 flat
• Correspondence: $1/sentence (in Japanese)
• TV/Audio: $1/sentence
• Proofreading only: 1/2 the cost to translate

I'm feeling like doing calligraphy again, but lacking in inspiration.  Thus, I'm turning to my friend list for help.  If there's anything you'd like to see done, drop a reply with it and if it amuses me, I'll do it and get it posted.  Guidelines are as follows:

• Nothing explicit
• Literary passages are love, though I'm open to other things as well
• Requests may be in any language written with the Latin alphabet, or any East Asian language.  I can translate into Japanese, but you're on your own if you want anything else translated (please post a translation if you want something that's not in English or Japanese)

Styles I do are as follows:
• Fraktur (think pre-World War II German)
• Uncial (Irish)
• Basic Japanese kana & kanji calligraphy (can do basic grass-style kana, kanji I haven't learned so many tricks with)

Welcome to this week's collaboration project on LingWiki!  This week's theme is false friends!

Just about every student of language at some point or another tries to use words from their native language when they need a word they don't know in another language.  In many cases they can land a word that's about on the mark, in other cases they end up with something that's completely opposite of or unrelated to their intended meaning, and perhaps even offensive.  I know someone who, on top of already having made a couple other mistakes while speaking Spanish, had to further clarifiy he wasn't pregnant to boot when he accidentally said that he was "embarazado".

This week's collaboration is about pulling together some of your favorites to share.  If you have stories to go with them, all the better!

Welcome to this week's collaboration project on LingWiki!  This week's theme is colors!

Looking for the basic colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet), plus brown, black, white, and gray to round things out.  Any other colors or shades are welcome, so feel free to add in some of your favorites.

If you're feeling ambitious and don't mind letting your work be used on the site, recordings of pronunciations would be great as well!  In the interest of convenience for all involved, recording them as one file is fine; I have the software to break it into separate files for use on the site.
